First time poster on here. I'm 20M, in college, no debt, with 30k in a brokerage. Its split between a few ETFs (SPY/QQQ) and a little crypto. I am currently finishing off the last few weeks of my internship, and I have no intention of pulling any of the money I currently have in the market anytime in the near future, as I live with my parents and they are covering my undergrad (I could not thank them enough for being able to do so).
Obviously things are bound to change, and the market seems very speculative at the moment, but I wanted to hear some opinions on the best sectors to diversify into, since my portfolio is predominantly tech (technically SPY is Fortune 500 companies, but so many of them are tech that I ultimately treat it as a tech ETF). I have around 10k that I can put into more assets, and as I have some very primitive knowledge in investing, I wanted to hear some thoughts from people who know the field significantly better than I do, in order to learn and continue investing in the future.
From what I've heard from a family member (who is an avid trader), he suggested putting approx. 3k into some treasury bonds, another 3k into some financial ETFs like Russell 2000, and keeping the other approximately 4k in cash in case something else looks enticing later. I honestly can't evaluate if that's a good idea or bad idea, and if anyone has pointers to guide me in the right direction I am all ears.
