I dug myself into an abysmal spot this year, dealing with depression and shut myself out of the world for 14 months, staying at home, not working and putting all my living expenses on credit cards.
I finally realized how deep I was in last month and desperately found the best paying job I could that is bringing in 36k/yr.
Credit Score: 598
Debt: Total: $94,400 -36k Credit Cards -52.6k Student Loans -5.8k Car Loan
Monthly Income: Total: $3,200 (36k/yr job + 200/mo helping with a web design project)
Monthly Expenses: Total: $3,620 -$1,000 Rent (Renting 2,000/mo place with roommate) -$1,400 Credit Card Min. Payments -$354 Student Loan Payment -$225 Car Loan Payment -$128 Car Insurance -$60 Gas -$280 Groceries -$100 Electric -$40 Internet -$26 Phone -$7 Renters Insurance
Net Income -$420
So far I’ve considered getting an additional part time job but I’ll probably only be breaking even every month. I’d be working 7 days a week to just break even. No money for car troubles or emergencies, no savings. If I have to do it I will but it seems like this will be the case for 22 years straight (the amount of time on my statement to pay everything off if I only make the minimum payment)
Chapter 7 seems like the only option that will give me breathing room. My debt payments are taking up 2/3 of my income and are choking me. Are there any options anyone can recommend if they were in my shoes?
Thank you
