~40k in emergency fund as I took a new job that is more high risk high reward (high pay but high chance of getting fired if don't perform) and wanted to be prepared in case I did get fired. Sitting in a 5% high yield account.
Had both of my AC units crap themselves during the brutal Texas summer within a week of each other (6.5k fix for both) and paying out of pocket for a hit and run to my car (3.5k).
Thank god for the emergency fund. Everyone should have one..I used to think 5k was enough. Thought no way anything >5k would happen to me. Good thing I was prepared.
Have a emergency fund folks. This is now just a annoyance, but I have no stress since everything is paid for.
