I've seen a recent podcast where they claim investing $250 a month in an index fund will result in a million $ in 40 years. 40 years is a very long time to wait in a hope. Using the logic from the podcast, would investing $250 month in an index fund resulting in a half million $ in 20 years be a mathematical possibility? 20 years is still a very long time, but more reasonable amount of time to wait than 40 years, and accumulating a half million $ is not a bad accomplishment for an average person.
