Hello, I sell my software items (fonts) on the market, but I decided to conduct an experiment by sharing my software on the internet for free personal use, and then people can buy a license if they use it in their business.
Honestly, the result is shocking. After more than ~400,000 free downloads on the internet,
only 1 person out of ~15,000 purchased a license. None of the hundreds of thousands of people donated to my PayPal. Zero dollars for 5 years.
Here's a fun fact: The world-famous music pop group BLACKPINK used my font on the cover of their album "THE ALBUM" in 2020, which sold millions and millions of copies. I received a royalty of $7 and bought two burgers.
In conclusion:

-------------If you do something for free, people don't respect you. I've seen many instances where people use my software without a license, but I don't have lawyers or time to control where and how people use my software. I am from a farming village.
-------------Karma doesn't work. Being nice to society is a waste of time. Society doesn't care about you.
-------------I have lost my faith in humanity after this experiment.
