My best friend just recently had a bad breakup and he's on my couch now. He told me he hasn't paid his mortgage in a long time and he's currently out of a job.
I told him he needed to fix the job thing, but when he said behind on his mortgage I expected a few months. It's not a few months...
He hasn't paid his mortgage for nearly two years. I have no idea how his house hasn't been foreclosed on, but now he's asking for my advice and I have no idea what to tell him. I told him to call the bank and see if he can work something out to get caught up but honestly I feel like that'll be pissing into the wind.
Does he have any options? I figure he's got a card to play because the bank would probably rather he pay the loan than resell the house. Can he use that to negotiate a way to catch the mortgage up?
I just don't know what to tell him. I'm not gonna "tough love" shit, the dude knows he fucked up, I just want to be able to give him the right advice and I have no idea what that is right now.
