Hello! Thank you in advance if anyone is willing to take a minute and help me out.

I'll keep this brief. I just had my first child and my wife is a SAHM. The cheapest family health insurance plan my company offers is $1500 (it's good insurance... but yikes). I make about $7k/month. So that works out to 21% of my income. Anything over 9.12% is considered unaffordable by the US government.

I tried going to the health care marketplace at healthcare.gov but unfortunately, the cheapest option I qualify for there is $800/month, because my income is too high to get a discount. And that's $800 for a bad plan. To get a decent plan I'm looking at about $1200/month.

I really like my job, and I'd hate to have to quit just to find affordable insurance. But I just can't fathom spending a mortgage payment on health insurance. Is there any alternative for me? What would you do in my situation?

Thanks again if anyone takes the time to help me!
