I think my issue might be more psychological than practical but I was wondering if there is a way to be both frugal and graceful while eating out.
The kids and I occasionally will eat lunch out and the value we get from it is the experience itself, as well as the kids trying out new cuisines that we don’t cook at home.
But how do I keep the cost to a minimum without insulting the business and acting like a cheap fuck?
Things we already do: get two adult sized portions and split among ourselves; not get drinks other than water; not get appetizers.
But if the total is on the lower end, I feel bad tipping just 20%. I also feel awkward getting just two kids meals and splitting in three (where I as the adult would be eating out of a kids’ meal).
Has anyone found a way to be elegantly frugal about this?
