I am a 67 year old woman and my monthly budget consists of the following:
Gifts - $153.85 Christmas - $160.26 Food/Groceries - $500.00 Hair/Nails - $269.23 Events/Food - $38.46 Shopping/Clothing - $192.31 Gas - $57.69 Restaurants with Husband - $230.77 Restaurants with Friends - $153.85 Physiotherapy - $192.31 Household Goods - $153.85
Total $2,102.56 USD *Currency = USD
If you add the $500 for groceries + $230.77 for restaurants with husband + $153.85 for restaurants with friends - I am spending a total of $885 on food per month.
I am making about $2,300 per month in income from my husband ($1,500) + social security ($800). I still am feeling strained for cash and am tight on money. Does it appear like I am overspending on things based on other people who are my age ideally (late 50s/60s/70s) and female?
I just am trying to see if my spending is more than normal. I realize it is relative to my income but in general would you say I am spending too much on groceries? Restaurants? I read an article saying the national average for groceries for 2 people is about $500 on the medium side. I am spending closer to $750 in some months but am really aiming for $500 which is why I put it there.
If there are people on here who are in my age range - do you spend similarly on things like shopping/clothing per month? Hair/nails? I broke down the christmas gifts into a monthly spend but I usually spend about $2,000 per year on Christmas. The “gifts” is for other gifts to friends/family.
Thanks so much for your advice and I realize it differs from situation to situation but just trying to gauge my spending relative to people on here who are similar in age and ideally female.
