While baking my own bread I discovered that my oven wouldn't bake evenly. The part heading to the window was less baked than the rest. Found out it's due to the heat loss by radiation throughout the window. Covered the windows with aluminium foil only leaving a peep hole to see what's going on inside. Done this the oven would now heat up faster, bake evenly and the heat loss throughout the windows is recognizable less. I can now touch the glass without burning my hands at 220°C inside. Guess 15-20% energy saving + less heating up the kitchen which is annoying in the summer. Be sure not to cover the vapor outlet which may be located in the door frame.
In the beginning I fixed the foil by only squeezing it with the door. Later I found out where to tape it down with heat resistant polyester tape with silicon adhesive (from car paint supplies). Capton tape my also work.
