23F I just completed my spreadsheet of 2022 finances, tracked all of my income, refunds, rewards as well as my expenses, their date of purchases and categorized them for later use.
I'm sad to say that I did end up spending about $3500 more in expenses than my yearly income, and what saved me from going into the red was my savings from last year. I made more money this year than ever before but I somehow fell into the lifestyle creep. I didn't meet any savings goals or put money into retirement :(
Fortunately, plans for 2023 are on their way which includes downsizing from my home (rent $2000) to live in my family's guest home and only needing to pay utilities (very very grateful). I will have to save for a cross country move. I also think that my overall purchases will be slightly cheaper (going from a state with sales tax to a state without) and I hope that with this years' insights, I'll be much more aware of my purchases.
Happy New Years!
