Talking with a company for a senior level role. When salary came up, I mentioned I wanted around 175k, and they asked my low range to which I replied 150k. Fast track past interviews and the recruiter mentioned they were preparing an offer in the 155k range.
That said, after looking at the benefits compared to what I have at my current company, I do feel like 165k would really make me more comfortable leaving my current job.
Discussing this with a friend of mine who’s managed large divisions and they said if I countered asking for more that it may leave a sour taste in their mouth since I said my low range was 150… anyways I thought this was okay/normal to counter? Their offer would still be 40% raise from my current salary, but I also know that now is the time to negotiate.
