Anyone have some crazy frugal tips/stories from themselves or their families?
I grew up poor and have plenty so I'll start. My family used to take bucket baths with 3 gal buckets and that's how much water we had for the entire shower. It took forever for our water to heat up, so we never had warm baths unless it was in the middle of winter. We would also take baths in the afternoon when we would come home from school/work so the temperature was bearable. It was similar when brushing our teeth and washing our faces in the morning/night-- each of us would get 1-2 cups of water and my parents would scold us if we took more.
Growing up like this as a kid, it wasn't a big deal at all. It was definitely manageable and saved lots of money. I don't do it anymore because I love a warm shower, but my parents still take bucket baths as far as I can tell. What are some tips/stories you have?
