In my area, the amount of homeless has probably doubled. People are on the streets begging for help. Schools are shutting down and relocating kids to other schools because they’re underfunded. There aren’t really many professional jobs. Even Walmart has raised their minimum pay up higher than I ever imagined, yet professional positions are hardly raising pay. Food costs were already high, but are getting even higher. I’ve noticed a few neighbors are getting chickens (guessing for eggs). The stock market is down significantly compared to where it was even 6 months ago.

I lived through the “Great Recession” but this just seems much worse to me.

Is anyone else seeing these patterns or similar patterns? At what point would one say we’re entering a depression vs recession?

I post here because either way people should be planning personal finances accordingly.
