i’m trying to work out a budget for food spending each month. i actually spend too little due to anxiety and i want to loosen the reins a bit. what’s a good percentage of monthly income that can go towards food? the only recommendation i saw was of 10-15%, but that budget also included a section for “giving” which is not happening right now for us lol.
details: 2 males (both 23) 1 income of >$2700 $1820 on bills and rent $780 extra for food and recreational
currently spending about $240 a month on food, but i’d like to spend more. we eat out very little, maybe an inexpensive place a couple times a week. i want to be able to go out more than that but i’m too anxious to spend without a budget.
what’s a middle road percentage that we should be spending on food? we have some savings but that’s taking a back seat for the moment.
