so I'm trying to buy a truck. specifically, I'm trying to buy a Ram 3500, which is tough to find in stock, particularly with the specs i need to haul my fifth wheel trailer.

i found a few locally - three identical ones at the same dealership.

the rub: they all need titles and will officially be "used" as whomever buys them will be the second owners

the truck has 6 miles on it

more details: - the trucks were, "ordered by an individual, but it took to long so he didn't want them any longer, bought different trucks. " - it's been three weeks since i put down a deposit, with the promise that it would be, "about two weeks" - i called the DMV in my state and gave them the VIN from the truck; they said, "no record" - when i brought this up with the dealer, they told me something about the titles coming out of Idaho... I'm in SD - dealer says their hands are tied, waiting on the state just like i am

is this a known scam, just something shady the dealer isn't telling me, or is it actually plausible?

the only thing I've been able to come up with is that the orders are put in as individual orders with Ram in order for a smaller volume dealership to actually get any trucks at all, then the orders mysteriously canceled after the trucks were delivered. basically, this small dealer gaming the system.

there are quite a few of these "used" trucks on the dealer website
