I'm unmarried and have no children. I've never made a will or listed a beneficiary for anything I have. If I died right now I'm worth enough money that I'd rather it helped someone I love than go to the state. I have a friend that I respect, has sacrificed in life to help others and has always been a good friend to me. They've never asked me for anything and don't know about this. I want to make them the beneficiary on my life insurance and 401k retirement account. I believe I can do this easily by updating the accounts online. And then I have a house that's almost paid off. I believe I'd need a will made to leave it to them? What kind of will do I need to shop for, and what's it usually cost? Anything I need to know?
