I'm looking for high level advice for people who are decently high earners and also high spenders.

My wife and I both grew up with self employed parents who didn't have the best relationships with money. I remember many times my mom getting to the grocery register and not having enough in her bank account for groceries and getting denied.

I am in my early 30s, and finally admitting that I need help and I need to change my toxic relationship with money. I have been a high earner for the last decade, starting several businesses and working really hard. I'm not rich but I earn between $100-$200k depending on the year.

We aren't those people who are buying fancy boats or purses or watches. But a lot of our wealth leaks out from just random stuff like eating out at restaurants, taxes, toys for the kids, etc.

What are the BEST areas to be looking at to change my mindset and set new habits? Should we take a course, or change how we bank, or something like that? I feel horrible about it. I mean we are still doing well but I just got a new job and I want to start a new chapter in my life. Thank you!

Info:

Income: $150k/yr
Savings: pathetically low, like $20k
Portfolio: $50k

House equity: $300k
