The dental hygienist said I should bring my kids to do a "fun" visit at the dentist. She said the fun visit is free. And helps get the kids used to being worked on without it being scary. I confirmed with the front desk and made the appointment.

We go to the fun visit and they start doing quite a few things; Taking pictures, teeth cleaning, etc....I'm thinking wow this is cool, the kids are doing so well. To my surprise, we get a bill for 400 dollars. Yeah maybe it's my fault for not asking more questions but it was a little overwhelming trying to watch both of them, making sure they aren't frightened. Also they told me it was free. I call to dispute the bill and the receptionist says "we were able to do more on them because they were so well behaved". So it's my fault because they are well behaved and now I've got a bill for 400 dollars because they are not dental insured yet.

What's my possible course of action? I've never had a problem with them before, and I feel like this was a big miscommunication.
