Hello,
I recently received a job offer at a new company. The wage is $22/hr which is slightly higher than my $20/hr at my current employer. The problem I have with the new job are a lack of benefits. There is no 401k match and no health insurance offered. The upside is that I feel like this job will allow me to gain useful skills and experience in things that I don't currently receive at my job (despite expressing interest). I have accepted the new job offer and my current employer approached me today about potentially negotiating a higher wage to get me to stay. I am struggling between the trade off of losing benefits and only receiving a slight bump in pay plus the experience. I would like to get a higher offer from my current employer and take that to the new job in order to ask for a higher starting wage. Is it appropriate to try and negotiate after I've already accepted the new job?
I apologize if this isn't the right place for this kind of post. I posted in /r/careeradvice and didn't receive any replied. I was hoping for more luck here. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
