I would pick up these paper blinds from a store like Home Depot and install them in my homes, especially rentals when I needed blinds or didn't like the window dressings already there. It had a glue strip at the top and folds in an accordion style with clips. You can cut them to the size you need. I liked these because they looked clean and fresh and let in enough light but also provided coverage. They made a room look airy with nice filtered light.
You could also use Rice Paper. For very little cost, the paper blinds seemed so much more appealing than the standard dingy white plastic blinds that cost more. And they were recyclable too!
