So I have been told that there is a good probability that my company may lay me off by the end of the year. Currently don't have much saved and I am concerned that even if I get another job I may not be able to match my current salary. So I know some of the obvious things I should be doing (start saving money, update my resume, stick to a budget, etc). What are some of the less obvious things I should be doing in anticipation of losing my job by the end of the year?

Edit: I appreciate all the comments, its nice to see commenting with the intention to help. I have started looking for a job and will finally move ahead with my side business. My main question is about other things that can be helpful (I saw one about cutting subscriptions, which although will hurt, makes sense until I can have a longer outlook of economic stability).

Follow up questions: Does it make sense to open any special savings account? Invest? School?
