I just thought you guys would appreciate his dedication to frugality.
I've known this guy since my first year in college and he never really outgrew the student life. Even though he has a well paying job in finance and has a net worth close to 1MLN dollars already, we still share a Netflix account, whenever we cook together he still insists I get the cheaper meat option and we pick a dish that can include the single tomato he has at home that will otherwise go to waste.
Today he called me, just to ask me whether I knew if a beer bottle of a specific brand has a deposit on it (most beer bottles and crates here come with a deposit so you return the bottles to the store). Even I sometimes just throw bottles out because I don't find it worth the effort to check if I can reclaim 10 cents by bringing it to the store.
After 20 years, I am still aspiring to be as cheap as he is.
