Just a reflection of the times, and I'm sure I'm going to sound like an old fogey:

Certainly, I live in a HCOL area, but it feels like every time I go for even a casual not-fancy dinner with 1-2 friends (not the kind of group dinner where people are ordering willy nilly), you can't escape for less than $30 any more.

Basic, basic dishes are $15+ instead of $11, a beer is $7 where I used to think $4-5 was reasonable, etc.

I don't think prices generally come down, they gradually ratchet in one direction only. I guess the olden times of pre-2020 are what I'll be telling my bored kids some day.
