This very kind elderly couple lived in the house next to me during my childhood and I am obsessed with it. The home is not for sale and was purchased in the 1960’s. I am assuming the couple still lives there as the landlord from our previous home says it’s the same people living there from when I was a child. The current profit sales from the property I’m about to sell will be $250,000. The home I want is valued online at $400,000. Would it be awful for me to walk up to the house and ask if they’d be interested in selling? Or have the offer in hand? Unsure of how to go about this, I was thinking of maybe speaking with my real estate lawyer? Would that be the right person to speak to about it? Whenever we would see them at the grocery store or around town they always recognize us and chat, but we haven’t seen them in a few years. This couple really helped make my childhood special, especially during holidays and am hoping this would possibly also help them financially. Would it be completely unheard of a rude to do this?
