The short story is that my daughter was just diagnosed with a serious illness/condition that may force my wife to stop working to provide care. We can make it on just my income but it's not going to be a comfortable lifestyle at all.

While the diagnosis was a shock and we're still trying to process what our "new normal" is, both of our families and friends have been very supportive. Most have offered their time to help give my wife and I a break but my parents have just straight up offered money - and it's enough to basically replace my wife's income.

It's not like we couldn't use it and some extra cash would definitely make our lives a lot easier but I'm hesitant to accept cash because I don't want to feel like I'm not standing on my own two feet. On the other hand, I feel like not accepting the money would be letting my pride get in the way of my wife and daughter's life and health.

I'm conflicted and could use some impartial opinions.
