Current salary: $86 base with 10% bonus.
I got an offer from a competitor for $115k base with 13% bonus.
I spoke with the head of my division and told him, look I want to put some feelers out there because: -this is a hot market -I feel underpaid and overworked -peers are leaving for hefty 30-40% increases -I feel under appreciated and not respected
He told me to give him some time and he will check with the person below him about my upcoming raise and “maybe” promotion in April. He is alleging that the raise is also going to be hefty due to us being understaffed and my performance. He also mentioned that they have “identified me as a key player and future leader with the division and company”
Nothing is in writing from my current company but I have the formal written offer from the new company. In my honest opinion moving would be a great short term move, but I am not sure about long term.
At my current company, I feel very secure in my job, although earnings are less I think the chances of getting let go are very very low, I am not sure about the other company.
Should I try and leverage the new offer and get my company to Match?
Should I just take the offer and run?
OR have blind faith (I know I shouldn’t) that they will give me a correct market based salary in April? If not, stick it out for the year and then leave because they let me down?
Any tips or guidance is greatly appreciated!
