I made some wood spaceships for the little ones in my extended family. It was very frugal since I already have the tools. They are made from scrap wood and crown molding. I bought the crown molding from the Habitat for Humanity Restore for 3$ for a 6' length. The little pegs are pocket hole plugs I had laying around. They are held together with wood glue and finished with sanding then shellac (~$7).

So I have 6 toys for about 10$, plus still have materials to make more. If you had to buy everything (shellac, sand paper, wood glue, wood, handsaw) it would be ~$50.

Wood spaceships! Pew Pew! Zoooom
