So a little context. I went to open a bank account and when I was there they asked me if I was sure if that the SSN I had used was my own. When I said yes they asked if I had any way to verify that it was. So I went home and got my SSN Card. They then said okay and I was able to open my account. They told me that the number had belonged to someone else as well which was weird. I forgot the name they told me but it wasn’t my parents name so they didn’t open an account in my name. I also keep getting denied for credit cards even though I make enough money and have submitted the same information as my cousins who have gotten accepted excepted for SSN. How do I go about fixing this? I want to start building credit but I’m not sure how. Would any of my existing brokerage accounts with Robinhood or anyone be closed? Would my bank account be closed?
