I've had a painful undiagnosed illness for the last year that is rapidly getting worse. I've seen about a dozen specialists and have zero answers, I'm currently at the point where I'm legitimately surprised if I survive getting through the night. Recently something is making it so that when I lie down my head and neck swell up to the point that I have trouble swallowing, but it resolves when I'm vertical again. So I've been sleeping in a chair for the last month or so, on top of a huge list of other symptoms I experience. It's a nightmare.
I'm on medicaid, I haven't been able to work for the last year. My primary care doctor tells me it's time for me to seek out of state care for answers because there's nothing else he can do for me or local referral left to try.
I've called Mayo, Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, and a few others. None of these places will take my insurance. Applying for financial aid to these places takes ~6 months and I was warned that very, very few applications get approved for financial aid.
I do not believe I have that kind of time to wait around for that.
I think my only option is to sell everything I own to buy good insurance so I can go to one of these places, if anyone knows any other options I'd love to hear it.
When I go any insurance company website the plans are all very confusing, I have no idea which one applies to my situation. Can anyone help me?
