This is, of course, not applicable to everybody - I understand that I have the privilege of being a smallish person that can actually fit into a 13-year-old's clothes.

I hardly ever buy new clothing, but some things (like winter wool leggings) are pretty difficult to find used. I live in Canada where winter can feel like it takes up almost half the year, and being warm and comfortable (even inside - drafty house) is important to me.

There are plenty of clearance sales on winter gear at the moment, and I decided to take a look at the sizing chart on a website I was browsing to see what the largest child sizes were. Turns out the largest child size is nearly equivalent to women's medium (for a short person - I am merely 5'3.)

I am happy to report that I scored some sweet merino wool leggings for a massive discount. 2 pairs for $65. My partner wanted the same after seeing mine arrive, but needs a taller/larger size by about 1-2 sizes. His order came out to about $100. I'm sure the additional fabric to size up by ~2 sizes isn't worth that difference, but even still, merino leggings are order $100 per pair!
