So been in the military, saved up something like 55k and then got out with my GI bill BAH paying monthly when in school. And since I’m living rent-free in NY (thanks mom), I was able to save up another 20k. So at 75k, I feel like it’s time to start doing something with it instead of just letting it sit. But I have no job and not planning on having one (besides internships) until I graduate in hopefully 2.5 years because engineering is already hard and with my ADHD ass I can barely handle being a full-time student. So where can I start? Who should I talk to? And how do I get over this crippling fear of losing all my money in investing?? My mom lost a lot of her 401k in 2008, and that just makes me so damn upset and paranoid that my money will just be gone from something out of my control. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
