With the holiday's coming up, how do you all deflect or deal with any of the passive aggressive comments about frugality from insecure family members who love paying 10x for items from an upscale store that they could easily get at Walmart? Strictly to try to make others feel inferior.

An explanation about independence and stability and not getting caught up with the Jones's business usually falls on deaf ears I've noticed unfortunately and it's not really an option to just chop these shallow unpleasant people out of my life.
