I'm an independent contractor and going on my 3rd year at this company, always remote, even pre pandemic. I don't have a direct manager. I've never gotten a pay raise, although I've asked several times over the years - last was around 2 yrs ago. I make around $15/hr but with self employment tax i keep like $11/hour.

  1. Everyone else from my original hiring group is long gone, the turnover is high. I've trained everyone on the team (35+ people).

  2. I'm a repository of knowledge and an all-purpose problem solver, i know all kinds of obscure information and mentor the new people, plus handle all kinds of responsibilities that are above and beyond my original job description (more than everyone else).

  3. I clean up all kinds of messes behind the scenes, i think the company isn't even aware of how much time I save them. I saved ~5 examples to bring to my meeting.

  4. Recently HR approached me asking my thoughts on why they can't retain anyone and why no one wants to work 30 hours even. I told them politely that they have explicitly told me not to bother working hard because there is no opportunity for growth (true). The person I'll meet tomorrow is not privy to this

Thoughts? Apart from quitting, listing the messes i cleaned up, and showing salary data. I know they are short handed and really can't understand why they are being so stingy, as I know for a fact they're making buckets of money. Some of the higher employees make $250K (I overheard this once, it's not common knowledge). Thank you!
