hello, i have used robinhood for a long time and like it, but i wanted to buy margin on a certain stock, but robinhood would not allow me margin for it as it is too volatile. so i want to change brokers, but before i do that i want to ask if another broker would even let me do this.
i saw interactive brokers has low margin, but when reading about their margin they include this:
We may reduce the collateral value of securities (reduces marginability) for a variety of reasons, including:
- small market capitalization or small issue size
- low liquidity in the collective primary/secondary exchanges
- involvement in tenders and other corporate action
the stock i want to buy margin on has 700k AVG volume 185M market cap. i have 50k and want to buy 25-50k more on margin. if i transfer to interactive brokers, will i be able to do this? is there another broker that would let me do this? any help is appreciated.
