I moved into a new apartment last December and got a really good deal in the middle of COVID. The apartment rent has gone up over $600 in the last year (per the website), and of course they're trying to hit me with a big rent increase when I renew. I've been told by some of the other people in the complex that I'd be a fool not to negotiate the rate, and can probably get a better deal by moving to a different apartment in the complex cause the ladies running the place don't care about retention and want sign-on bonuses for renting new apartments or something.
What tactics can I use to negotiate? The apartment complex two blocks down has a cheaper deal running, on a similar sized apartment, but I'm guessing I'll loose $300 or so hiring movers to move my stuff down there. (Friends helped me move last year but they complained loudly about it and aren't gonna help again this soon.)
