It is our first Christmas we'll spend at home as we welcomed our first child this year. That said, we don't have much Christmas decoration yet and don't want to spend a lot as we are saving for a house. We'll get a real tree plus lights for the tree plus a tree stand as well as a wrath plus candles and some greenery for decoration. But other than that what would be some (ideally pretty much free diy) things for decoration (tree/table/other), ideally child safe? So far I have come up with
- dried oranges/citrus fruits
- ask our parents for some of their unused red tree ornaments
- using cookie cutters for making stars out of orange peal
- baking cookies with a hole and hanging them up
- reusing the cheap decoration that came with our wraths (Adventskranz) in the past years which I saved (some half-used red candles, some angel hair, some little red/gold balls)
- cutting big stars out of cardboard and wrapping them in yarn
- collecting pinecones and hanging them up
- diy something out of existing colored paper (red/greens) any ideas?
I'd rather not buy stuff like spray paint, tools and a glue pistol as this stuff is expensive and won't get much use (sigh most diys start with buying stuff for 30 bucks for which you could just go out and buy cheap stuff). Its a bummer our coffee doesn't come anymore in these golden packages which would have been perfect for crafting.
Any ideas are much appreciated.
