To add a bit more context my mother is nearing retirement age, but not quite there yet (just turned 60). Before the start of the summer, she had been working part-time as an office assistant in the dental field. The hours (three days a week) and the pay (I think around $15 per hour) were not bad, but the co-worker situation (other office staff) was not so great and after a few years of tolerating it, she finally left.

She has spent the past summer unemployed, and started looking again at the start of September. From a financial stability point of view, my father is the primary income earner and all retirement and health benefits come through him. That said, her income was helpful, but not quite critical, to their overall budget.

In the view of the family (myself, father, and sister), my mother's lack of job has created some concern. The obvious point is the finances are tighter. The other is that unemployment does not appear to do well for her mental health. She does little outside of read books and browse Facebook (not good I know). That will likely be an issue when they hit retirement as well, but that bridge will have to be crossed then. But this second point is the bigger concern since her side of the family is a bit predisposed to dementia. Doing little to stimulate the mind and body is a sure fire way to rush into that disease.

SO finally, back to the question. My mother continues to look in the dental field for office rolls like her last job (3 days a week/ around 15 an hour), and is doing her best to avoid gigs like Walmart and grocery stores. But she can't find much in that admittedly tight set of requirements. My question is do you all have any suggestions for part-time gigs outside of that field that might fit a woman in her 60s just trying to stay busy and help out the finances a bit.
