I'm coming to my first winter in my new flat(Scotland) and I have a question regarding my storage heaters.
I will not be in most wednesday nights and the entire weekend(Sat+Sun). I have been looking at how many units they use leaving them on and it has varied from 5 to 13kwh for each radiator(have 3 storage heaters). My assumption is that to heat the bricks from cold it takes A LOT more energy than to heat the bricks that were warmed the previous day and that is why day 1 usage is so high? In that case do you think it is a better idea to leave them on every day, even the weekends where I won't be in?
FWIW, I turned on all 3 heaters at level 5(out of 10) and they used 27kwh over a single night, that was a shocker since thats £3.69 for a single day. On the other hand after leaving my main living room one on, it used 5 and 7 on its own day 2+3. I feel like I might just use a single storage heater or see what it is like with having my other 2 on a much lower heat rating.
