So i've reached a point where i can finally start clearing some past debts, credit card debt, medical debt, from my credit history of the past ten years. It's difficult to sort through the rhetoric of the pros/cons of doing this, but I intend to have every derogatory item paid back in full before the end of the year. Is there REALLY a downside to doing this? The whole credit reporting and scoring system in the US seems terminally fucked, no matter what you do.
