I'm currently working in a good job at a good company in a HCOL city making 125k-150k a year. I like my job, my coworkers, and i feel loyalty to my boss since i've effectively built the group with him over the past couple years. I'm a couple years out of college.
A job opportunity came out of the blue recently and I figured it's never a bad idea to take the interview in case something came out of it/networking experience etc. The opportunity is interesting and up my alley, but i've gotten pretty comfortable at my current job. After some rounds of interviews, compensation came up, and the new role would pay roughly double, estimated 300k all-in.
The issue is that my group has had a lot of turnover recently and me leaving would leave a huge hole that's hard to fill as I run certain functions in the group that have real impact on revenue. I feel a sense of loyalty to the company and my boss and i know the group would be severely impacted if i left. That being said, this is a chance for me to make a salary that i probably wouldn't achieve at my current job for 5-10 years. I think I would like the new role, I'm just worried about the close relationship I have with people/friends in my group and organization.
Thoughts?
