Hello!

This is my first time really posting anything and looking for advice / do’s and don’t when it comes to legally getting married and how that impacts our current financial situation. First, a few noteworthy items about our situation. I am a 31M and she is a 29F, I am an engineer making ~90k / year and she is a teacher making (eye roll because the world is stupid) about 34k a year, we live in a very affordable community so 90k is above the average median income. We purchased a home in 2019 together (both names are on the loan/deed). She leases a 2020 RAV4 and I own (still making payments on a) Silverado 1500 truck. I have a about ~4k in debt on credit cards (because I was pretty bad with money until 2 - 3 years ago) which I am doing great knocking that down and should be at 0 debt prior to our wedding (June 2022) while she still has student loans and maybe 1k in credit card debt.

My main question / what I’m looking to hear from people is: what should we be preparing / planning for next year when we get married? Are there things (given our gap in salaries) We should do for taxes / benefit we could do to make the most of our situation. Given that final piece about credit card debt, will us being married impact our credit scores and will my debt now because OUR debt?

Hopefully this is enough information to send some helpful advise recommendations before our big day. Thank you all, this sub has been a great place to learn!
