As of right now, the person is a minor. It's difficult to say at this point how their disability will effect them later in life. It's possible they may be able to live on their own, go to college, get a job, but it's also possible they may need to live with someone who makes them food and reminds them to bathe etc. For their rest of his life. We just won't know until he's older.

I want to leave this child everything in my will. My biggest concerns are that leaving him a large sum of money will actually hurt him in some way, as in make him ineligible for other benefits. I also don't want to leave it to a relative as a custodian, his parents etc. I don't trust their ability to exclusively use the money for him. They may justify using it for their housing or cars or his non disabled sibling etc. Saying its for "the good of the family so it will benefit him" or something like that. His family is poor, which is part of why I want to leave everything to him. I worry about his care as he gets older and his quality of life. Any advice is appreciated.
