I'm 43, married, two kids. We're finally in a spot to be able to purchase a home, but the mortgage world is crazy. My federal credit union is only offering conventional mortgages, and I'm hesitant to try an online-only broker like Rocket.
It's really confusing looking at all these different options for buying points to lower rates, different closing costs and escrows, lawyer fees, etc. I've been researching for a week or so and my head is spinning.
When you talk to a bank they of course say they're the safest and cheapest. You talk to a broker, they say the same thing.
Is there anywhere I can look to get impartial information or assistance with choosing the right mortgage? I would hate to get taken advantage of as a first time buyer.
Thanks in advance.
