my girlfriend's apartment complex was bought out. new company threw out all the furniture from the empty rooms(fake leather couches in the parking lots stacked everywhere, throwing them out via dumpster/pods 1month ago).
because of this so-called 'student housing' (but isn't connected to a particular campus), my girlfriend lives in a 'dorm' type apartment. her bedroom is connected to a bathroom + kitchen area + 3 other bedrooms. under her old owners she had a cat (she still does and maybe this is the reason she has yet to get a new roommate) she was living alone in this apartment alone, in her tiny bedroom, despite it being connected to 3 other (locked) bedroom doors.
The new company asked for a copy of her lease this week, which she obliged. the new owners mailed her a letter saying: her old deposit is annulled, and she has to pay a brand new $700 deposit + any furniture/apartment damage done (she has no apartment damage but her cat scratched her couches which were provided by the OLD owners and discarded by the new, but she kept them)
im convinced these new owners just gather old leases and find ways to fuck their clients over.
