My husband and I are planning to buy a new car in December or January. We are a one car household, and have been driving a 2007 Hyundai Accent SE hatchback, which we bought new in 2006. We have pretty much only had to do basic maintenance and upkeep on it. It has been a great car and has served us well, but it has some issues now, and we would really like a larger vehicle with AWD and some other modern conveniences. We plan to make a down payment of 15k and finance the remaining amount over 3 or 4 years.
We adopt retired greyhounds and usually have 2 at any given time. The Accent has been fine (with the seats folded down) for going places with the dogs, but it’s pretty cramped if we are taking anything else with us. We have always talked about getting a Subaru Outback - it is kind of our fantasy car, or a Volvo wagon (out of our price range). In terms of warranties, Hyundai offers the longest, and we would probably be fine with the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe or Tucson. We’ve had such a good experience with our old Hyundai, so I’m wondering if we should jump ship or remain faithful? We plan to keep the vehicle for as long as we can - hopefully 15 or 16 years.
I would really appreciate any input, especially if you have owned one of these vehicles. This is such a big and long-term purchase for us.
