Hey everyone, so I got an older car (over 20 years old) - a year ago from today I left my keys in my car. I called up my insurance company and they sent out someone to open my door. I was super tired and just wanted to get home so I didn't notice they completely pried apart my door and the window along with it. So my window never fully goes up now (so rain, wind - of it comes in my car).
I called my insurance a month after when I realized. And waited for an insurance agent to get back to me, except they never did. Months later my father told me the claim rep called, but told me he didn't have the phone number - I was completely overwhelmed with work and school that I just forgot and months passed by. I assumed it was too late when I realized I never gave them a call to ask for the rep' numbers
My transmission is now going out, and I'm considering buying a rebuilt and installing it myself (I maintain my own vehicle), however the window really kills it for - as I'm moving inner city and it leaves my car open to theft.
Advice? Think the insurance company will carry on the claim if I open a new one? Or should I just buy a new beater?
