One thing I learned after spending way too much time working with a small lunch stipend is that "FREE DELIVERY" is fake!! You know those bogus ads you see all the time for “free delivery”? What they really mean is “no delivery fee.” There are also 10-30% service fees, they jack up menu prices, and add surge fees and minimum cart fees. Sales taxes are also calculated differently from app to app! One item that’s $10 on the menu could very well be $27 on a delivery app. I usually avoid these fees by either 1. Picking up the food myself or 2. Comparing prices across the delivery apps, or 3. by using a food delivery aggregator like Orderfood.google.com or MealMe. Orderfood has a website and has most of the Chinese and Indian restaurants, but I have yet to see any chains or other local restaurants probably because they compare 2 of the smaller delivery services. MealMe works in every city and compares all the delivery services, but is only on iOS and can be buggy. Whatever you choose, make sure to always tip! (Even if you do pickup)
