When I was about 12 years old (& very much aware about how saving money could help me in the future) I asked my father "Why don't you change the oil in your car yourself (it seemed pretty simple). He explained to me that it would be more enjoyable for him to work "overtime" at his regular job, (as an aerospace engineer)and he would make more money. That has stuck with me. I have had a housekeeper for 25 years. I would much rather work an extra day at my job, than clean my floors and the toilets. And in the long run, I end up making more than it costs me. I haven't cleaned a floor or bathroom in all these years, but as a nurse, I've been able to make meaningful differences in people's lives. Find a career that is rewarding and focus on that. Don't waste precious time on the "menial" things in life, you will never get that time back.
