My sister bought a 2015 Chevy sonic. It has around 70k miles, she’s owned it for 2 months and already spent $1500 on replacing A/C components. Her CEL came on today and we took it to a mechanic shop. They said the catalytic converter was bad and it would be around $1100 since the converter is combined with the manifold. She doesn’t have money to throw at the car 24/7 and was probably going to trade it in for a different car. I was wondering if she should do the repair and then bring the car in or just trade it in since I know the dealership can repair it for a fraction of the cost.
